25/08/2026 – 27/08/2026
This supported respite stay in Jindabyne offers participants the opportunity to experience the snow in a supportive and social environment, while also encouraging independence, confidence, and the development of everyday living skills.
Members will stay in shared accommodation and engage in a range of structured, pre-planned group activities across the Jindabyne and Snowy Mountains region. Activities may include snow play, sightseeing, community outings, shared meals, group recreation, and designated time to relax and enjoy the experience.
Throughout the stay, support workers will assist participants to build and practise independent living skills such as communication, personal care routines, community access, decision-making, social interaction, and daily household tasks, while working toward individual NDIS goals within a safe and supportive environment.
Support ratios will be determined based on individual needs and overall group safety following intake and risk assessment processes.
There are a few different ways to claim funding for short-term stays, depending on your plan and goals.
Option 1 – Short Term Accommodation (STA) or Respite
STA sits under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life. This covers most of the supports you receive during a 24-hour period such as accommodation, meals, direct support, and activity-based transport while the stay takes place.
Some costs cannot be claimed under STA. This includes travel to and from the respite location, flights, and any non-disability-related activities like movie tickets or event entry. These are paid out of pocket.
STA funding is designed to help participants and their informal supports such as family or carers take a short break while working toward their goals. It promotes independence, social participation, and capacity building in a supported environment.
Option 2 – Group and Community Participation
This also falls under Core Supports, but it only funds the direct support hours you receive. All other costs such as accommodation, meals, transport, and activities are considered personal expenses.
The support itself is the same, but the way the funding and personal contributions are structured is different.
You will usually see STA listed under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life.
If you are unsure, your Support Coordinator, LAC, or Plan Manager can help review your plan and confirm what funding you can use. Some plans also allow flexible use of Core funds to access STA if it aligns with your goals and support needs.
Not usually. There will almost always be some out-of-pocket costs, usually for things the NDIS does not cover such as flights, transfers, or non-disability-related activities like entry fees or personal spending.
We always aim to keep these additional costs as low as possible, and we will clearly outline any non-claimable expenses before confirming your booking.
STA funding can only be used to pay for supports provided during your stay. It does not cover flights or transport to and from the destination.
Domestic travel: Flights or long-distance transport are paid by the participant.
International travel: Only the support component such as staffing hours can be claimed through the NDIS. All other costs including flights, accommodation, meals, insurance, and activities are paid privately.
